What’s on this October half term
As the leaves turn brilliant shades of red and orange and a crisp chill settles into the air, October half term is almost here and so is the question… “what can I do to entertain the kids?” If you’re wanting to keep the kids busy during the break, you’re in for a treat (no tricks here!). From spooky adventures to creative crafts, our guide is here to help you make the most of this October half term. If Halloween isn’t your thing, we’ve made sure to include some other great local events and activities too!
Halloween events and activities
Hatch’O’Ween spooky trail – Saturday 21st October
A self-led Halloween trail from 204pm at Hatchlands School in Redhill. Tickets are £2.50 and pre-booking is essential
Halloween themed Lego Club at Redhill Library – Tuesday 24th and Thursday 26th October
For children aged 4+ they can play with fun Halloween themed Lego games and team challenges. Book by emailing redhill.library@surreycc.gov.uk. £2 per child, booking essential.
Face painting at County Mall in Crawley – Wednesday 25th and Thursday 25th October
On the 25th and 26th October between 10am – 4pm there is free spooky face painting in the shopping centre (SEND session from 9-10am)
Halloween party at St Nicholas shopping centre in Sutton – Friday 27th October
Hosted by some friendly witches, the drop in party between 12-4pm will be packed full of Halloween fun including treasure hunts, dancing games, pass the parcel and plenty of prizes to be won – Get your Ghoul on with our Halloween Events! – St Nicholas Shopping Centre | Shopping in Sutton (stnicssutton.co.uk)
Spooky storytime at Reigate Library – Friday 27th October
Head to the library, after hours (5-5:30pm) for some fun and spooky stories. Suitable for ages 5+, £1 per child to be booked in advance at the help desk – Events and activities at Reigate Library – Surrey County Council (surreycc.gov.uk)
Halloween wizards and witches at Gatton Park – Sunday 29th October
Activities and a spooky trail around the beautiful grounds of Gatton Park from 12-5pm. Online booking recommended, £6 per adult and £3 per child – Open Day – Halloween Wizards and Witches – Gatton Park

Doctor Who Day at The Belfry – Saturday 21st October
For little Doctor Who fans, there will be characters and proper from the show at The Belfry shopping centre in Redhill between 10-4pm – Doctor Who Day at The Belfry! – autism-all-stars.org
In the forest craft at Horley Library – Saturday 21st and Friday 27th October
Get creative making an item found in the forest – for ages 3+, no need to book, £1 per child. Horley Library also has card making, board games session and some Halloween activities – Events and activities at Horley Library – Surrey County Council (surreycc.gov.uk)
Day of the Dinosaurs at Southwater Country Park – Monday 23rd October
A day full all of all things dinosaur! From 10:30am – 3pm head along in your dinosaur themed outfit to meet the dinosaurs, get involved in the themed arts and crafts and follow a fact filled trail. FREE event but car parking charges do apply
Treasure hunt walk at Earlswood Lakes – Wednesday 25th October
From 11am – 12pm for ages 5-7 years and 1-2pm for age 8-12 years. Enjoy this FREE fun walking trail where the children will need to solve clues to receive a prize – School holiday activities | R&Be active | Reigate and Banstead (reigate-banstead.gov.uk)
Lego club at the Woodhatch Centre – Thursday 26th October

Autumn colours natural art at Gatton Park – Thursday 26th October
