We’re supporting Gas Safety Week!

Gas Safety Week is an annual safety week to raise awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of your gas appliances.

Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions, and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. CO is a highly poisonous gas that can kill quickly with no warning, as you cannot see it, taste it, or smell it.

We’re really care about keeping you safe in your home. As your landlord, we’re legally responsible for making sure sure maintenance and annual safety checks on gas appliances are carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer to ensure you and your neighbours stay safe. You may have seen earlier this week we’ve announced we’ll be working with Gas Call Services from 1st October to carry out these checks.

You can follow these simple checks to keep you and others safe:

  • Allow our gas contractors into your home for your annual gas safety check
  • Check for warning signs that could indicate your gas appliances aren’t working properly – Signs may include lazy yellow /orange flames instead of crisp blue ones, error messages or unexpected noises from your boiler or dark and sooty stains around your gas appliance. If you notice any of these or you have any concerns, contact us

From 1st October 2023, our new gas contractor will be Gas Call Services. Until then, please continue to contact Smith & Byford for any boiler or gas related repairs or gas safety check on 0800 917 8335.
