Over 5,000 Raven homes now rated EPC ‘C’ or better
We’re proud to announce a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, having successfully upgraded more than 5,000 homes (88% of our total portfolio) to achieve an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of ‘C’ or better.
The National Housing Federation’s (NHF) submission to the Public Accounts Committee Inquiry into decarbonising home heating in April 2024 reported that only 68.7% of Housing Association homes are rated EPC ‘C’, placing Raven approximately 28% ahead of the sector average.
This milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to enhancing energy efficiency and contributing to a more sustainable future for both customers and the environment.
Our approach has been comprehensive, focusing on retrofitting older properties with advanced energy-saving technologies, adopting sustainable building practices in new developments, and working closely with local authorities and energy experts to maximise the impact of these improvements.
This work aligns with the UK government’s target of bringing as many homes as possible up to an EPC rating of ‘C’ by 2030.
Ali Bennett, Director of Homes at Raven, said:
“This achievement is a testament to our ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for our customers; making their homes warmer, quieter and cheaper to heat, while addressing the critical issue of climate change. By reaching an EPC rating of ‘C’ or better in over 5,000 homes, we’re making a tangible impact on reducing carbon emissions and helping our customers save on energy costs. It’s a major step forward in our mission to create sustainable and affordable living environments.”
